Speedee Labs is McDonald’s State of the art innovation lab located in our Global headquarters in Chicago’s West Loop. Speedee Labs enables the McDonald’s system to learn, iterate and scale innovation at speed – powered by teams around the world. The position provides overall managerial and administrative leadership to operate Speedee Labs. The General Manager of our Speedee Labs Test Restaurant will serve as the champion for all stakeholders working in or vising Speedee Labs, ensure access for all stakeholders, and serve as a one stop shop for clients’ needs.
Competitive pay from $68890 - $93000 / year plus cash incentives
This position reports to Supervisor, Speedee Labs and is based in Chicago, IL at the McDonald’s Headquarters (MHQ)
Accountabilities and responsibilities:
Essential Duties
+ Responsible for managing the test restaurant, including oversight over all operations from production to guest service areas; directs the work of team members, both managers and crew.
+ Provides leadership to ensure test restaurant meets performance expectations of market, function and mission visiting clients, customer satisfaction, procedural execution against Global Restaurant Standards, employee engagement and relations, while maintaining McDonald’s high standards on quality, speed and service.
+ Analyze test restaurant labor and team capability needs for the upcoming month, prepare and set schedules, including days and hours of work, for AGM and all managers; ensure schedules are legally compliant and meet company practices.
+ Elevate, coach and role model McDonald’s guest and service experience behaviors, ensuring end-to-end consistency in service delivery.
+ Provide an environment that fosters continuous employee development, learning and teamwork; set the example through coaching and personal development planning
+ Proactively manage people processes: (a) recruit, interview, hire and onboard managers and crew; (b) assess the work of managers and crew and provide performance feedback/evaluation and assign training/development plans; (c) make decisions as needed to support hiring, and employee status changes such as promotions or terminations; and (d) conduct performance reviews for managers and crew trainers.
Additional Responsibilities
+ Plan and control the budget
+ Assess inventory management performance and oversee food costs; approve inventory forecasts and ordering plans providing guidance to Assistant General Manager
+ Develop and oversee maintenance plans to ensure test restaurant meets or exceeds standards of excellence (proactive planning, cleanliness, procedures); delegate activities as appropriate to Assistant General Manager (if applicable) or Restaurant Team Leads and collaborate with them to ensure coverage at all times and troubleshoot emergencies
+ Handle guest as well as team member (managers, crew and temps/ customer) complaints and grievances
+ Proactively manage people processes: (a) recruit, interview, hire and onboard managers and crew; (b) assess the work of managers and crew and provide performance feedback/evaluation and assign training/development plans; (c) make decisions as needed to support hiring, and employee status changes such as promotions or terminations; and (d) conduct performance reviews for managers and crew trainers.
+ Coach team members to embrace new procedures, approaches and technologies that enable McDonald’s to operate great restaurants
+ Ensure food safety is maintained at all times and in accordance with procedures; ensure team members understand their role and are up to date on training and procedures; perform periodic performance inspections and audits
+ Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
+ Enjoy working in fast paced, agile, and highly visible environment
+ High School or GED required
+ Demonstrated experience leading a team in a fast-paced managed environment
+ Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and mentor team with professional maturity
+ Must possess strong business acumen, be independently motivated, assertive, and possess ability to delegate effectively
+ Achievement oriented with strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
+ Strong oral & written communication skills; English language proficiency
+ 1-3 years customer service management experience or US military service
