GIS Solutions Manager
Freese and Nichols is seeking a GIS Solutions Manager to lead all our GIS efforts companywide.  This position can be located in our Fort Worth office.  As GIS Solutions Manager you will help enhance our GIS services, develop business, and pursue projects.  GIS services include developing business intelligence and analytics in a GIS environment, advising clients on GIS technology, streamlining and implementation of GIS such as conversion to ArcGIS Pro and other software integrations.

Freese and Nichols has a robust team of GIS analysts across our company who provide a range of GIS-related services integrated with our engineering, environmental, and planning teams.  FNI seeks to enhance our ability to provide GIS services to meet our clients’ needs, both as complementary parts of engineering and planning projects, as well as through direct-to-client GIS services.  We’re seeking an engaging, experienced leader to work directly with clients and company leaders to grow our GIS services.

Major duties include:

Lead GIS business strategy including setting vision, communicating with clients, developing work, and supporting the hiring of production staff to execute projectsLead GIS business development efforts by networking in the GIS industry including attending conferences and eventsLead GIS marketing efforts and business development activities including scope and fee development, proposals, and shortlist presentationsLead and advise GIS system implementation and integration for clientsAdvise clients on improved GIS business processes and maximization of operational benefits Advise on clients’ data management and GIS system administrationDevelop presentations, technical training materials, and curriculum to promote GIS services and the growth of GIS staffAttend client meetings, clearly communicate technical topics, and work with clients to understand their needs and promote GIS servicesDevelop client relationships and new business with an emphasis on GIS and data management Participate in professional organizations including giving presentations and serving in leadership roles where appropriateCoordinate with senior personnel to develop GIS strategic plans and operational objectives for the organizationServe as project manager or senior advisor on large GIS projectsDevelop technical methodologies and approaches for projectsAdvise senior GIS staff and provide mentorship to GIS staff companywideMaintain advanced comprehensive geospatial knowledge and expertise in configuring complex geospatial applicationsLead the development of solutions to complex technical problems using geospatial data, tools, and processesDevise project solutions and new approaches to complex problemsOther duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Environmental Science, or related field. In lieu of degree, equivalent years of experience considered.Minimum 15 years of experienceGISP Certification (or eligible and able to obtain GISP within 12 months)Expert in the use of GIS softwareExpert in Cartography (proficient with mapping principles and design)Expert working with spatial and tabular dataScripting knowledgeComprehensive knowledge of Enterprise GIS

Preferred

Experience in consultingExperience in an organization using GIS to manage infrastructure (e.g. city, county, water district, river authority, etc.)
