Job Summary
The Grocery Team Leader will be the first level of management support for the day-to-day store activities. The Grocery Team Leader supports the grocery store management team with the overall store performance, and supports management’s action plans through the mentoring and development of the team under the supervision of the Grocery Manager and Assistant Grocery Manager. The Grocery Team Leader will play a key role in the delivery of services throughout the neighborhood to both support the store operation and Goodwill’s mission services by providing a great shopping experience to all customers and engaging in conversations regarding our mission and the services we provide.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
High School or GED preferred
Experience
At least 1 year of grocery experience preferred
Licensure/Certification
Preferred ServSafe, National Registry Food Safety Manager - will train if not already obtained
Valid driver’s license preferred

Essential Duties
Understands the organization’s mission and community vision, to create a sense of teamwork and purpose within the community.
Support management’s supervision of the day-to-day grocery operations and performance of the team to provide the highest level of customer service.
Follows management’s direction and supports the implementation of compliance standards, especially in the areas of safety, customer service, proper food handling and overall store operation, as outlined in the Store Manual, Safety Manual, and the Employee Handbook.
Supports the management team in the training and development of staff, including adherence to all safety and company protocols and procedures promote a safe, productive work environment.
Supports grocery management team with the communication of company policies, store standards and procedures.
Processes goods in a timely and accurate manner while following the production system.
Supports management philosophy of coaching, training, and developing a customer service team.
Handles all cash and cash transactions accurately.
Ensures the store’s appearance is properly maintained.
Updates and maintains log of time, and temperature control for all food products.
Completes various administrative duties, including:
Communicates transportation/supply chain concerns with the Grocery Manager.
Opens and closes the store in a timely and thorough manner according to schedule.
Reports Facilities issues and problems that need attention.
Makes daily deposits.
Front of Store Duties:
Smile, Greet, and Thank the customer.
Trains employees on the proper procedures and placement of products.
Processes customer transactions by ringing the sale, collecting payment, making change, bagging the merchandise and thanking the customer.
Reports known or suspected security and/or theft problems to the Grocery Manager or other member of management.
Maintain a high quality of products in the produce, meat, dairy and other departments.
Helps to maintain a clean parking lot, clean restrooms, and clean salesfloor.
Maintain a neat, clean, and sanitized area.
Assists customers with shopping needs.
Back of Store Duties:
Smile, Greet, and Thank the customer.
May unload and observe upon delivery, foods from approved sources to be delivered at the proper holding temperatures.
Assist with properly stocking, and organizing merchandise in the back room or on the sales floor.
Examines items to determine appropriateness for the sales floor, in accordance with established standards.
Ability to properly pack, ready to sell products in containers and display.
Keep areas clean, sanitized, and organized backroom.
