Group Fitness Instructor (Pool)
Group Fitness Instructors play a vital role in helping HWS Recreation to achieve its mission. Individuals filling this role are responsible for enhancing and sustaining the quality of the department’s group fitness program and promoting physical well-being of our students, employees, & external members. Responsibilities + Foster a safe and inclusive environment for all participants. + Engage in active listening and model relationship-building skills in all interactions with students, employees, & external members. + Develop and prepare routines. Provide appropriate music for classes. + Demonstrate and educate participants on proper form, exercise modifications, perceived levels of exertion, warm-up/cool-down, and recovery. + Assist in the upkeep, cleanliness, and organization of fitness equipment & spaces. + Maintain & accrue all necessary continuing education credits (CEC's or CEU's). + Buying in to the HWS Recreation culture; promoting department’s mission, vison, & values. + Assist in implementing HWS Recreation’s health & safety policies and procedures. + Assist with additional department programs & services. + Attend all required group fitness instructor trainings & workshops. + Demonstrate knowledge for the Colleges’ educational philosophy and mission. + Demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to unique social, cultural, and economic circumstances. + Performs other related duties as required. This is a part time, hourly, non-benefits-eligible, administrative position. Work hours vary and will fluctuate with the academic calendar. This position description is not all-inclusive as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Flexibility to work nights and weekends. Hourly rate: $38/hr + Hold a current national fitness certification (NASM/AFAA, ACSM, ACE, NETA or equivalent) + Certifications of “micro” areas of expertise (CrossFit, Barre, Zumba, Yoga, etc.) + At least one year of experience teaching group fitness classes (preferred). + Flexibility to be committed to teaching a minimum of 2- 45 minute to 1-hour sessions per week. + Areas of strength in communication, coaching/mentoring, and planning/organization. + Strong customer service orientation. + Willingness to grow & develop as an instructor.
