Group Leader

The Mag Assembly Group Leader reports to the Mag Assembly Supervisor and overall includes the following:

Demonstrates Linamar’s Core Values and Leadership Behaviors. Demonstrates the values of our safety culture with in the assigned area. Ensures PPE requirements are followed and communicates with supervisor regarding safety issues. Delivers daily assignments with Machining Operators and provides necessary group trainings with all shift employees. Possesses working knowledge of all equipment in the assigned area. Drives compliance of established processes to ensure quality of material. Works with operators to ensure understanding of daily TPM checks and signs off for verification of completion. Works with Department supervisor/Engineering/Maintenance to repair/recover equipment. Completes other duties as assigned.

 

Performance Expectations

Responsible for correct entry of daily production into the shift report. Responsible for ensuring that the Work Order Entry procedure is followed for any equipment downtime and proper communication to the shift supervisor regarding downtime. Responsible for driving teamwork and initiating internal trainings to help build up the Mag Assembly department. Responsible for driving the effectiveness of all internal policies and procedures and reports in the appropriate manner when employees are not in compliance with said policies and procedures to the shift supervisor. Following up on ALL daily tasks assigned to operators to verify completion of signoff sheets and ensure that documents are kept current and up to date. Responsible for adequately training new operators in all areas regarding job duties i.e. daily/hourly checks, TPM shift checks and finished bin inspections etc. Provide feedback to shift supervisor regarding new employees in a timely manner to ensure training effectiveness.  All of these are in addition to the responsibilities of the Setter Role.

 

Credentials

Completion of secondary school or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Ability to use computers and fluency in Microsoft Suite is essential, especially Microsoft Excel.

 

Desired Characteristics

General knowledge of IFS (Entering Work Orders). Ability to type detailed descriptions of all equipment in the department. Ability to direct and lead a small group of employees with minimal Supervisor intervention. Proven record of good attendance. Ability to communicate well with personnel from various levels of the organization. Must be flexible and able to adjust daily tasks accordingly. Must be able to work in both team and independent environments. Must be willing to learn. Must be able to talk to employees using soft skills and keep them motivated and accountable. Must hold themselves to a high standard of integrity as a leadership role. Must Keep Safety, Production, and Quality as top priorities.
