Labcorp is seeking a HealthCare Billing Specialist to join our team in our Revenue Cycle Management Division.  This position will be a REMOTE position but some time may be needed to go to Pensacola, FL region for training, equipment pick up, etc. The shift is somewhat flexible but will be Monday-Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm -EST time zone.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Responsible for billing clean claims for the lab billing office (LBO). Prepare and complete claims for commercial insurance companies, third party organizations and/or government or self payers.

- Submits all facility and invoice billing for Ascension-FL hospitals along with reviewing and fixing facility billing issues.

- Confirm insurance coverage. Determine necessity for pre-authorization and obtain authorization for scheduled procedures.

- Reviews all specimens that failed to post and reviews code for medical necessity as applicable.  Research, analyze and reconcile billing and reimbursement practices.

- Inputs “providers not in system” and troubleshoots issues related to provider errors.

- Evaluates claims to mitigate denials and lessen failures to post claims.  Reviews claims to see what is lacking and apply the needed information to make the claim billable.

- Answers electronic requests for additional information from other departments (e.g., credit charges as requested, review CPT codes, append modifiers, etc.). Consult with appropriate parties to resolve unbilled claims.

- Request charge data master (CDM) builds to facilitate billing.

- Maintain detailed documentation in the patient account record of all billing activities. Maintain documentation of claims processed as part of the daily claims reconciliation process.

- Provide peer-to-peer training as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Prefer Ascension-Florida or Sacred Heart Hospital Florida experience(medical systems)Prefer Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification

High School Diploma or equivalent required

REMOTE work: Must have high level Internet speed (50 mbps) connectivity 

Billing Data Entry which requires 10 key skills 

Compare data with source documents and enter billing information provided 

Research missing or incorrect information 

Verification of insurance information 

Ensure daily/weekly billing activities are completed accurately and timely 

Research/update billing demographic data to ensure prompt payment from insurance 

Communication through phone calls with clients/patients to resolve billing defects 

Meet daily and weekly goals in a fast-paced/production environment 

Ensure billing transactions are processed in a timely manner 

High School Diploma or equivalent

REMOTE work: Must have high level Internet speed (50 mbps) connectivity 

Dedicated work from home workspace 

Ability to manage time and tasks independently while maintaining productivity 

Strong attention to detail which requires following Standard Operating Procedures 

Ability to perform successfully in a team environment 

Excellent organizational and communication skills 

Basic knowledge of Microsoft office 

Alpha-Numeric Data Entry proficiency  

Extensive computer and phone work

Pay Range: $15/hr or minimum state wage - $19.00/hr
