General Summary of the Position:

Perform tasks necessary for the day-to-day operations of municipal wastewater systems, which includes the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plant, collection system, and pump stations.  Manages and assists crew members to maintain these systems.

Manages crew members to accomplish assigned and required tasks.Maintain a clean job site at all plant and pump station locations.Monitor, clean, maintain, and secure tools, equipment, and company vehicles daily to eliminate potential hazards and/or losses.Ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed daily.Other duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Basic mathematical and writing skills.Communication and people skills to work successfully with fellow employees.Ability to read meters and gauges and complete reports.Ability to trouble shoot mechanical and electrical problems.Knowledge of plumbing for water and wastewater systems.Knowledge and understanding of the proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in the maintenance of water and wastewater facilities and systems.Thorough knowledge of applicable safety precautions.Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

Required Education, Training and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.Minimum of a Class 3 Wastewater Operator Certification preferred. Ability to obtain one required.Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a water/wastewater operator preferred.Valid appropriate state driver’s license (general operator license) required; Class A or B CDL strongly preferred.

Work Environment:

Regularly work near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, asphalt, water, and sewage.

Noise level is generally loud.
