Requirements for consideration:

Minimum Education:

High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Years of Experience:

1 year as Histology Assistant I or equivalent

Job Responsibilities

Communicates to maintain team knowledge, demonstrates knowledge of regulatory standards in order to satisfy compliance requirements, and participates in professional growth opportunities to enhance personal, team, and department development.  Obtain and process pathology specimens maintaining positive specimen identification, assist histology technicians, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure the quality preparation of all specimens.  Obtain and process pathology specimens maintaining positive specimen identification, assist pathologists/pathology assistants, and maintain grossing stations and frozen section rooms to ensure the quality preparation of all specimens.  Perform all clerical and computer tasks necessary to support the quality operation of the department.  Perform coverslip and appropriately label slides, to aid in diagnostic evaluation.  Perform frozen section staining, coverslip and appropriately label slides, to aid in diagnostic evaluation.  Perform morgue and autopsy activities to ensure the respectful disposition of the deceased.  Process, prepare, and stain cytology specimens to ensure quality results and accurate diagnosis by the cytologist/pathologist. Assist with FNA and bone marrow procedures as required.
