Histotechnologist
Job Description

The Histotechnologist is responsible for the routine histological testing of patient samples as ordered by the physician or pathologist.

Functions to organize, coordinate, test, evaluate and improve the quality of patient results delivered. 

Ensures that results are reported in compliance with the goals and standards of the department and hospital the applicable accrediting organizations (AHCA, CLIA, CAP, and TJC) while reflecting the philosophy of Physicians Regional Healthcare System.
The Histotechnologist is able to function in the absence of the Lab Supervisor. 

The Histotechnologist maintains an oversight on the work performed by the  Lab Assistant in the absence of the Laboratory Supervisor to assure quality service on a hourly basis. 

The Histotechnologist is responsible for complying with all Physicians Regional Healthcare System policies and procedures, for managing supplies and equipment in the department, for satisfaction, and for appropriate resource management. 

The Histotechnologist will also take on additional supervisor duties e.g., daily statistical reporting and activities, review results, QC review, ordering supplies, and additional projects as requested.

Experience: One (1) year preferred

Licenses/Certificates:
Licensed by the State of Florida as Histology Technician (TS) required or Histology Technologist (TN) preferred.
