Description:

The Mercury Trade Compliance department is an important piece of the international business execution. As part of the team, candidates will be part of a distributed team of trade compliance professionals strategically located throughout Mercury's organization in order to partner with all business functions in a manner that achieves the highest standards of regulatory compliance and the individual objectives of the business. The Trade Compliance department consistently works with Mercury business teams to implement the compliance program, determine risks associated with international commerce, and business operations.

 

Job Title: Import Manager

 

Worksite location options:

Onsite: Andover, MA; Cypress, CA; Hudson, NH; Saddle River, NJ; Peachtree Corners, GA; Chantilly, VA; Huntsville, AL; Oxnard, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Torrance, CA Hybrid: 3 days onsite and WFH the remainder for the week based on a 9/80 schedule Remote: 100% WFH is not authorized based on company culture and employee innovation

 

Travel Requirements: Travel in this role is as required to support essential job functions (~10%).

Essential Functions:

Subject matter expert in Harmonized Tariff classification and the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE). Monitor import entries, provide clearance details, and respond to broker requests for information. Responsible for developing and executing strategies to expedite and optimize the import process, managing relationships with overseas vendors, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Review and draft departmental procedures for management review, maintain historical data archives. Update stakeholders on clearance status and potential delays Maintain and update trade databases. Run and review reports in ACE and proprietary broker systems. Recommends routing and handling for imports for customers and for customer prospects. Classifies shipments, inputs data, and makes corrections and adjustments. Processes post entry work including ruling requests, CF28’s, refunds, protests and drawbacks. Monitor import brokerage related emails, sort, categorize and escalate accordingly. Conduct internal compliance audits. Work with cross functional teams to review and communicate trade compliance requirements and provide guidance as a subject matter expert when requested. Experience with logistics and traffic management highly desired. Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Requires a minimum of 10 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, International Business, Supply Chain Management or other related field; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or 12+ years of prior related experience. Experience with OCR EASE Global Trade Management Software is a plus. Demonstrated knowledge of US Customs regulations Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes Ability to assign and manage duties and tariff classification.
