Industrial Continuous Improvement Engineer

Columbus, GA


This position is responsible for improving processes, designing, developing, testing, and evaluating integrated systems for managing industrial production processes, including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination.

 


What You'll Do:

Leads the casting quotation process by routing the Customer’s requirements internally and developing cost models based on those requirements. Supports the Company’s Change Management Process by timely processing of Engineer Change Requests and Engineering Change Notices.Analyzing various components of manufacturing processes, like schedules, flows, and specifications, with the purpose of understanding all methods and activities involved.Creating management control systems for improving cost analysis and financial planning efficiency.Reducing costs and production issues by implementing quality control procedures.Discovering new ways to improve the efficiency of manufacturing processes and service delivery.Designing and implementing control systems ensuring that all products meet certain quality standards.Advising clients regarding product specifications.Analyzing cost and inputs of production.Developing integrated production and manufacturing systems.Conduction studies of new equipment and machinery and recommending efficient options.Designing a firm’s infrastructure and hardware layout.Researching and presenting innovative solutions to production problems.Increasing the efficiency of financial planning and cost analysis, payments, and delivery.Enacting quality control procedures and monitoring employee schedules.  Monitors operations with an eye toward improving productivity and efficiency.Design efficient production processes and workflows.Ensures that processes are designed to ensure that products meet quality standards.Reduces waste and addresses production issues.Reviews production schedules, processes, and specifications.Evaluates data to implement technological improvements in production processes.Implements controls to monitor costs and minimize production issues.Identifies potential locations and determines facility design.Works with other departments to develop design and production standards.Designs facility layout and personnel requirements in relation to production operations.Helps to develop instruction manuals for production personnel.Ensures that work processes are safe and addresses safety issues and concerns.Generates process documentation and reports.   


Requirements

What We Need from You:

Five years of relevant work experience with Industrial Engineering and Continuous Improvement within a manufacturing environment.Knowledge of production machinery, processes, and standards in the industry.Experience with providing quotes for new work and engineering changes.  Know how to cost out the materials and or changes. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.  Will train Lean Six Sigma Green Belt to Black Belt.Detailed hands-on Kaizen experience.  Will facilitate Kaizens, lead meetings, report status to the Plant Manager.Experience with Coreless Electric Melting Furnace projects is a definite plus!Experience with Green Sand Ductile preferred.  Prior Foundry and Casting experience.Understanding of lean manufacturing and supply-chain management.Familiarity with Statistical Process Controls (SPC).Project management skills.Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and presentation skills.Organizational, planning, and documentation skills.Ability to work on multiple projects in various stages simultaneously.Industrial Engineer Education and Experience.BS in industrial engineering or related field such as manufacturing or mechanical engineering, required.Master’s degree in engineering a plus.
