Department Summary: The Information Systems Security Department (A211) in the Global Security Services Division (A210) is seeking to fill one Manager/Group Leader (GL) position. Qualified candidates will have a strong technical background in cybersecurity/information security, demonstrated technical leadership experience, and a passion to lead and develop staff.  Selected candidates will serve as direct supervisor for respective department staff. In addition, GLs are expected to work in partnership with the department leadership team guiding technical direction, shaping the work program, and growing the workforce. GLs must balance their department management and leadership roles with other direct work program commitments as assigned.

Job Description:

Staff Engagement and Development – Conduct periodic performance and development conversations, recognize staff accomplishments, communicate regularly with work leaders on staff growth opportunities and performance.Collaboration and Communication – Facilitate regular communication between staff and project/task leaders, serve as a proactive liaison between staff and upper management, seek out collaboration opportunities within the Department, the Division, and the Center.Capability Development – Assist the department leadership team with workforce shaping, work program development, and maintaining awareness of emerging technologies and impactful project opportunities. Help evolve the department vision and contribute to the technical roadmap.Recruiting and Hiring – Play a key role in the department recruiting and hiring process, to include screening resumes and participating in interviews.Team Building and Technical Stature – Work with the department leadership and staff to promulgate a culture of trust, excellence, teamwork, respect, and continued learning and innovation to solve the most difficult challenges and maintain a highly-skilled workforce.Cybersecurity Expertise – Provide cybersecurity guidance and direction to staff that support various programs/sponsors in the Collateral, Special Access Program (SAP), and Intelligence Community (IC).Effectively manage projects, systems, and personnel assignment to meet the needs of programs.Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, trust, prioritization, risk management, and building consensus among diverse stakeholders.Be an exemplary model of MITRE Corporate Attributes and Corresponding Behavior: Speed, Risk-Taking, Adaptability, Collaboration, and Grace and Respect.

Basic Qualifications:

Top Secret with SCI security clearance required.Demonstrated technical leadership in cybersecurity/information security.Ability to lead, engage, and support team members while working effectively as part of a team, across sponsors, and across MITRE as appropriate.Experience managing a group of 10+ personnel as a manager.BS in Computer Science or equivalent field of study and 10 years related experience in the information systems/cybersecurity field or 8 years and a master’s degree.Strong interpersonal skills with effective verbal and written communication skills.Clear and structured thought processes and coherent decision-making skills.Motivation to expand knowledge and skills for self and others.Demonstrated ability to assess and take risks, operate autonomously, and manage effectively in situations with incomplete information.

Preferred Qualifications:

Meet IAM Level III certification (DoD 8570.01M).SME in network performance engineering, advanced data transport, secure networking, embedded networking, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-171.Proven success with recruiting and retaining technical talent.Proven success building relationships with partners and stakeholders.
