Key Responsibilities                 

We  are looking for an experienced Architect to join our team working in support of current and future major infrastructure, transit maintinance facilitiy and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will thrive in a team environment where cooperation, attention to details and good communication skills lead to proper execution of project design work.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

Most of the Things You’ll Work On:                                                                                                                       

Creates and assists with the creation of designs from concept through to construction, working with the Project Manager and Project Engineers                                                                     Establishes the design framework of projects                                                                                         Coordinates architectural and project design                                                                                         Manages architectural designers and CAD staff assigned to the project, to successful completion of submissions meeting budget and schedule                                                              Coordinates and manages fee budget and schedule on architectural work                                      Functions as the project leader and primary coordinator between multiple disciplines    Applies knowledge of building codes and understanding of design philosophy of projects   Prepares and coordinates detailed design and construction documents                                     Resolves complex technical and design issues within the project scope and escalate all others to ensure project objectives are met                                                                                               Conducts on-site observations and documents site reviews                                                              Reviews submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFI's and project changes                                           Participates in business development, providing input to proposals                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    

Technical Design & Documentation:               

Develop, review, and approve architectural drawings, construction details, and technical documentation in accordance with project requirements and regulatory codes.                Prepare schematic design, design development, and construction documentation, ensuring accuracy, constructability, and compliance with industry standards.                     Perform building envelope detailing, thermal performance assessments, and coordination with all engineering disciplines and subconsultants as required.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Control:                               

Ensure all designs comply with Ontario Building Code (OBC), National Building Code (NBC), zoning bylaws, fire safety codes, and accessibility standards.                                                               Oversee contract administration, including site inspections, submittal reviews, and resolution of technical issues during construction.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

Client & Stakeholder Engagement:                                                             

Develop and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication, technical expertise, and strategic problem-solving.                                                                                    Represent the firm in project meetings, design reviews, and presentations, ensuring alignment with client objectives and regulatory requirements.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        

Sustainability & Innovation:                                                                                                                     

Integrate sustainable design principles and energy efficiency strategies.                                       Research and implement cutting-edge building technologies, advanced construction materials, and parametric design methodologies to enhance project performance.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  

Qualifications                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

You'll need to have:                        

Licensed Architect (OAA Member) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and leading infrastructure, transit and industrial architecture and large-scale projects.    Proven expertise in technical detailing, building envelope design, and construction administration.                     Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and BIM workflows.                                                    Deep knowledge of building materials, structural integration, mechanical/electrical coordination, and construction methodologies.                                                                                      Experience in sustainability standards, energy modeling, and high-performance building systems considered an asset.       Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring junior staff and fostering technical excellence within a team.               Must have strong organizational and time management skills.                                                           Business development experience is an asset, with the ability to contribute to firm growth through client relationships and project acquisition.

The salary range for this position is CAD$66,000 - CAD$99,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.   #LI-CW16
