$18.28/hr minimum - $23.76/hr maximum (range increases based on education, experience and certifications)

Responsible for collecting and processing patient specimens for the diagnosis and treatment of disease under the supervision of a Medical Technician, Medical Technologist, Section Supervisor, Clinical Laboratory Manager, or Medical Director.

 

 

Responsibilities SafetyManages processes effectively in regard to employee/patient safety.Record KeepingMaintains all required records, reports, statistics, logs, files and other documents as required.Process ImprovementPromotes a culture of process improvement by participating in unit/department based programs that supports the system’s process improvement goals.Actively participates on system-wide or hospital-based teams as neededRole Specific ResponsibilitiesAnalyzes lab specimensRegister outpatients and/or specimens received from outside customers, as necessary.Handle and distribute all laboratory reports according to current guidelines.Assists with reception and front office duties as necessary.Properly identify and label all specimens according to hospital and laboratory policy.Responsible for the collection and processing of specimensPresents to all patients and customers (internal and external) as a professional, with respect to appearance and demeanor.Floats within the laboratory when the workload indicates including reception and clinical laboratoryMaintains equipment and stocking of suppliesPrepare specimens for send out to reference laboratory (DCL, Quest, etc.)Performs the duties of the Laboratory/Pathology Representative and Front Office Staff.LEAD – Oversees and assigns daily activities of the Phlebotomist in the Manager’s absence.LEAD – Provides input on staff evaluations as requested.LEAD - Demonstrates ability to perform basic requirements of all positions and can act in a back-up role when necessary.LEAD - Assists with staff communication, training and follow-upLEAD – Demonstrates ability to adjust work assignments to meet needs of department Qualifications High School diploma or equivalentCurrent Illinois Drivers License for Outreach
