About Us

Mayo Clinic Bioservices is a nationally recognized state-of-the-art research organization supporting the collection, processing, and storage of all types of biologic samples in support of basic, population, and translational research as well as clinical trial activities. This is the central biobank for several national repositories including All of Us Research Program (AoURP), Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS CoV-2 infection (PASC) initiative, and Nutrition for Precision Health (NPH).

The Biorepository Core Laboratory (one component of Mayo Clinic BioServices) is enterprise wide, with activities spanning Mayo Clinic Rochester, Mayo Clinic Florida, and Mayo Clinic Arizona, thus providing a national presence. The laboratories support the pre-analytical sample processing needs of the research and clinical trial community by providing: 1) sample accessioning; 2) sample processing (blood, other biologic fluids, cultured cells and tissue); 3) nucleic acid extraction; 4) preparation and cryopreservation of mononuclear cells; 5) distribution of products (i.e., serum, plasma, DNA, RNA, cells, tissue); 6) short and long term storage of products (ambient, -20°C, -80°C, liquid nitrogen; and finally 7) kit production and distribution for biospecimen collection.  The laboratories support several hundred Mayo Clinic Investigators, several research programs (Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center, Center for Individualized Medicine, SPOREs, and Disease Groups) and a growing number of external clients, including several NIH funded programs, such as the All of Us Research Program, National Clinical Trial Network (NCTN) Alliance/NCORP, ACCRU, Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS CoV-2 infection (PASC) Initiative, and Nutrition for Precision Health (NPH).

Biorepository Core in Jacksonville, FL is a College of American Pathologists Biorepository accredited laboratory with a staff of over 20 FTE, occupying approximately 5,000 square feet of laboratory and storage space and 2 satellite laboratories. It is one of the main laboratories supporting clinical trials.

Responsibilities

The Mayo Clinic Center for Individualized Medicine (CIM) is recruiting an Associate Lab Director for the Biorepository Core Laboratory in Jacksonville, Florida.  This position is tenure-track faculty level position with an academic appointment.

This individual will help oversee the day-to-day operations of the Biorepository Core Laboratory.  Responsibilities include the following:

Qualifications

Credentials of a successful candidate will include a Ph.D., M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. with experience in laboratory management. 

Successful candidates must have excellent written/oral communication, organization and leadership skills. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience related to biobanking, molecular biology, clinical laboratory management, as well as hands-on experience in the technologies used in the core laboratory.
