The Office of Civic Engagement and Social Justice (Lang CESJ) is situated within the Dean’s Office at Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts and is dedicated to promoting, supporting and implementing purposeful community -based teaching, learning and engagement within a social justice framework at Lang, The New School and beyond. Lang CESJ is seeking a Graduate Assistant for 10 – 20 hours per week to develop and implement program assessment tools to evaluate CESJ’s impact on campus and in the community.

This position includes, but is not limited to, the following

Responsibilities: Work closely with Lang CESJ Associate Director to develop and implement programming related to diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice and civic engagement Serve as a facilitator as needed for CESJ events Facilitate mini-grant application process and pre & post advising with students applying for grants – Manage CESJ mini-grant communication, data, and tracking Data tracking for CESJ events and all social media data compiled by social media assistants Inventory and ordering CESJ offices (supplies, libraries, snacks, etc.) Serve as key administrative contact for CESJ programming and event logistics such as space and facilities requests, catering orders, and other logistical needs Serve as primary contact for programming follow up such as tracking data, and communicating with stakeholders Manage CESJ email INBOX and general correspondence Maintain CESJ calendars Assist with creating marketing and promotional materials for CESJ as needed Details:


Hourly Rate: $15.00/ hour
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Graduate student at The New School, actively enrolled during both Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters Strong interest in and/or demonstrated commitment to social justice Previous experience in creating and/or facilitating programming (for youth and/or underrepresented populations a plus) Proficient in Google Apps (including Drive/Docs), Microsoft Office Suite- especially Google Sheets High attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to commit to the role from September 2022 through May 2023 Ability to work between the hours of 9am-6pm, Monday-Friday, with occasional evening work for events Other duties as assigned, such as flyer creation, facilitation, social media posts, event staffing, and general team support, etc. Ability to adhere to University COVID-19 Policy and requirements.

Preferred Qualifications: Advanced graduate student Understanding of social justice-centered programs and initiatives across TNS Previous experience in event planning Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
