Lead - Finishing (Nights)

Scope of Responsibility: The purpose of this position is act as a working lead and a liaison between Sabre Galvanizing leadership and employees by leading the department to accomplish specific production goals while working safely and conscientious of quality. Under the direction of the supervisor, the lead person provides training, guidance and direction to assigned employees in an efficient, clean, safe and cost-effective manner in order to achieve the goals and key performance metrics in line with the organization’s objectives.

 

Essential Duties:

Oversee the production of up to 20 employees and manage job orders while completing tasks promptlyEnsure all galvanized products meet Sabre quality requirements, minimize downtime, and promote efficiency and uptime Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needsTrain and assess employees’ competencies in the Skill-Based Pay processActively seek and support continuous improvement activities in process efficiencies, costs and effectiveness of workRecord number of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets Run, maneuver, navigate or drive heavy equipment or mechanized equipment in finishing area, such as forklifts, cranes/overhead cranes, etc.Count, weigh or measure outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other recordsAttach identifying tags to steel products or mark them with identifying informationInspect all lifting equipment prior to use (forklifts, cranes, chains, hooks, etc.)Enforce established housekeeping standardsAdditional duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Management

 

Position Requirements:

Regular and timely attendance is requiredPrior Galvanizing and Manufacturing experience requiredExperience using forklifts and cranes requiredExcellent communication skills, including reading, writing and speaking English Must be able to obtain SG Crane/Forklift Certification.Prior Lead/Supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility highly preferred High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferredAbility to work well with people in a number of positionsAbility to identify, define and resolve problems

 

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, tugging, stooping, bending, twisting, crawling and handling of materials.Position requires manual dexterity, ability to pick/pinch and work with fingers, repetitive motions of wrists/hands/finger, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual.       Effectively and safely utilizes ladders, manlifts, forklifts, overhead cranes, etc.       Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Must be able to work in an open environment for long shifts (including weekends) exposed to extreme temperatures, standing entire shift Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources Visual acuity to perform visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyesRegular and on-time attendance.Work in your shift as scheduled.Must work well with others.
