At Cognizant Digital Engineering, a small cross functional team comprised of a Product Manager, an Architect, Full-Stack Developers, UI/UX designers and Big Data analysts builds higher quality software faster siloed individuals working independently. The Role:

Cognizant is looking for an experienced and innovative Lead Java Engineer with 15-19 years of experience to serve our diverse base of global clients.  As a member of our team, you will build cutting edge, cloud-based software that powers modern business.  An ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working in a diverse, collaborative, geographically distributed team.  Similarly, the ideal candidate is an expert engineer who values the “team”, drives continuous improvement and is unafraid to challenge the legacy status quo with creative cloud-based solutions.

Responsibilities:

\n\nLead the design and implementation of complex software applications using Java\nensuring they meet the dynamic needs of the Life and Annuities Insurance sector\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features that enhance user experience and business value\nEnsure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications by conducting thorough code reviews and optimizing software processes\nMentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support to foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation\nStay abreast of the latest technology trends and best practices in software development, particularly in Java and insurance domain-specific technologies\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives within the development team, encouraging experimentation and the adoption of agile methodologies\nAnalyze and integrate third-party products and APIs to enhance application capabilities and performance\nEnsure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements specific to the insurance sector\nParticipate in strategic planning sessions with senior management to align technology solutions with business goals\nFacilitate effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of project objectives and progress\nManage project timelines and deliverables, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and budget constraints\n\n

Required Skills:

\n\n15 – 19 yrs of relevant experience\nProven expertise in Java development, with a strong portfolio of successful projects\nIn-depth knowledge of the Life and Annuities Insurance domain, with a clear understanding of industry challenges and opportunities\nExperience with agile development methodologies and tools\nStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically\nExcellent communication and leadership skills, with a track record of leading \n\n
