Lead Research Project Manager, Center for Addiction Research

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in scientific field and three years related experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of preclinical models, surgical procedures, and rodent behavior  Familiar with IACUC regulations and policies Detailed-oriented with attention to data and file management  Organized with strong time management skills; able to manage competing priorities Ability to work with minimal oversight; exhibits problem-solving and critical thinking skills Demonstrates ability to lead mentees and research staff Communicates effectively orally and in writing Rodent surgery Immunohistochemistry  Knowledge of neuroanatomy  Grant and manuscript preparation  Experience managing multi-user core facility Budget development

Job Summary:
Works with Principal Investigator, study team and senior department administration to assure that project budgets and schedules are executed in a timely manner.

 

Job Duties:

Serves as the principal project coordinator for facilitation of preclinical research projects in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo. The role includes serving as the principal contact on projects for administration, regulatory/compliance officials, UTMB’s Office of Sponsored Programs and sponsors as appropriate.  Manages contracts for submission of deliverables and adherence to approved budgets.  Assures efficient compliance with deliverable/milestone schedules on each project.  Minimizes exposure and risk on research project by evaluating research protocol for regulatory/compliance issues.  Effectively manages multi-disciplinary, multi-investigator research projects.  Creates and monitors research project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.  Coordinates the collection of research data and the development of project related documents.  Ensures research project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.  Serves as a team leader through mentoring.  Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change.  Serves as liaison to sponsor as appropriate.  Facilitates communication with project teams on research progress and reporting of results.  Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.  Performs related duties as required.

 

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience.

 

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm and as needed on occasion.
