Lead Software Engineer - Java

As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the CORPORATION OVERSIGHT AND GOVERNANCE TECHNOLOGY Team, you lead multiple teams and manage day-to-day implementation activities by identifying and escalating issues and ensuring your team’s work adheres to compliance standards, business requirements, and tactical best practices.

Job responsibilities

Engages technical teams and business stakeholders to discuss and propose architecture approaches to meet current and future needs.  Defines the architecture target state of their product and drives achievement of the strategy. Executes creative data architecture solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions and break down technical problems. Provides guidance to immediate team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities. Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration. Anticipates dependencies with other teams to deliver products and applications in line with business requirements. Manages stakeholder relationships and the team’s work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements. Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for the team members and prioritizes diverse representation.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years development experience in Java / J2EE Web application design and development. Experience with Spring MVC and Spring BOOT Framework. Development experience using UI Technologies - HTML, VTL, XSL, JavaScript, AJAX, Angular JS, React, Bootstrap.  In-depth knowledge in Big Data Technologies including - Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, Hbase, Impala, Restful services. Experience leading technology projects. Experience managing technologists. Proficient in automation and continuous delivery methods. Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle. Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security. In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Experience working at code level Knowledge of cloud based technologies  – AWS,  Cloud Foundry, Google Cloud Platform are an added advantage Prior experience with Regulatory and Compliance applications is desirable  Debugging, profiling and tuning applications’ performance
