Primary Responsibilities + Be an appropriate role model for clients in care. + Create and maintain an atmosphere that is beneficial to the physical and emotional health of clients. + Assist program staff in the development and implementation of client’s independent living plans through instructing, counseling, and directing them in matters of personal conduct, hygiene, appearance, social skills, school, routines and work habits. + Foster the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of each child. + Effectively assist clients in developing independent living skills. + Fulfill other duties as assigned Required Qualifications + Associate’s Degree and 2 years of related experience required + Valid New York State Driver’s License and adequate auto insurance + Must have excellent communication skills and customer service and sensitivity to the needs of persons with disabilities + Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented, ability to work independently and be an enthusiastic team player. Must have a high degree of discretion dealing with confidential information + Ability to effectively work with individuals from a diverse array of cultural backgrounds, beliefs, customs, and lifestyles Preferred Qualifications + Bachelor's Degree + Previous experience working with youth We want to emphasize that the preferred qualifications are not required and that we are committed to helping our future colleagues develop these preferred skills.
