Linen Service Associate

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT\:  Summarize the nature and level of work performed.

 

Under the general direction of the Linen Services Supervisor and within established hospital and departmental guidelines, the Linen Service Associate ensures all linen items, including scrubs and uniforms are efficiently delivered to end-users per schedule/need.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\: Indicate key areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position.  These items should be evaluated throughout the year and included in the written annual evaluation.

 

Receives and stores linen items at designated locations per established schedules.

 

Receives and exchanges GSM carts to inpatient areas. 

 

Ensures all standing orders are filled and ancillary areas are assessed and restocked. Assessments are conducted with a portable pad and scanner.

 

Receives and fills all call-in orders from established user-areas and stages product for delivery and distribution.

 

Assess and restock the ScrubEx machines. 

 

Packs, transports and stages soiled linen at designated locations in laundry tubs for vendor pick-up.

 

Answers department assigned phone and responds to all customer requests/inquiries.

 

Follows Hospital Departmental, JCAHO and DPH guidelines and procedures.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED\:  Must be realistic, objective, measurable and related to essential functions of this job.

 

Basic mathematical and communication skills.

 

Effective English communication skills both verbal and written.

 

Ability or ability to learn to utilize computerized receipt and delivery techniques, including the use of portable pad and scanner.

 

Ability or ability to learn how to operate electrical or manual power jacks.

 

Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds (50 lbs.).

 

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or REGISTRATIONS (if applicable)\:  Specify minimum credentials and clearly indicate if preferred or required  

 

 

EDUCATION\:  Specify minimum education and clearly indicate if preferred or required

 

High school Diploma or GED equivalent required

 

EXPERIENCE\: Specify minimum creditable years of experience and clearly indicate if preferred or required

 

3 years experience in operations, preferably in a health care setting. 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS\: Describe the conditions in which the work is performed.

 

Ability to work in a fast paced and stressful environment.

 

On your feet most of the 8 hour shift.

 

Lifting, carry, and pushing up to 50 lbs.

 

Some hazards associated with soiled linens.

 

Ability to work in a team environment. *
