Maintenance Crew Leader II (Drainage Maintenance)

JOB SUMMARY\n

Serves as a crew chief to supervise various job tasks assigned by the Superintendent and\/or foreman. Transport equipment to and from job sites. Operate various equipment such as sweepers, loaders, bulldozers, track excavators, maintainers, mowers, etc. \n

QUALIFICATIONS\n

Education and Experience:\n\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent required.\nMinimum three years of experience in operation of heavy equipment.\nExperience in underground utilities and\/or road construction.\nMust be able to pass a drug test and a doctor's physical examination.\nMust possess or be able to obtain a valid Texas Commercial Class A Driver's License.\nMust possess or be able to obtain a Class II Wastewater Collection License issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and Class \"C\" Water Distribution.\n\n

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: \n\nAbility to understand and abide by City of Conroe and Departmental policies and procedures.\nMust display proficiency in both job management and personnel management.\nMust be able to understand and read plans and design specifications and be able to transfer work from paper to construction.\nMust display fundamental knowledge of water and sewer system construction and repair techniques.\nMust be able to attend after hours classes to renew or obtain required certifications\/licenses when necessary.\nMust be able to work on call duty and respond at any hour during an emergency when requested.\nMust be able to lift weights of 50 pounds and 100 pounds with assistance.\nAbility to operate heavy equipment, crew truck and tractor type equipment with proficiency.\nMust be capable of conducting routine maintenance to vehicles and equipment.\nAbility to understand and follow written and oral instructions.\nAbility to work as many hours needed to get the work assigned completed.\nAbility to use all tools to accomplish the job in an efficient manner.\nAbility to adapt to new technology, new methods and changing conditions.\nAbility to stand, stoop, kneel, or sit for long periods of time.\nMust be capable of reading, writing and speaking in English.\nMust be able to communicate using a two-way radio.\n\n

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED\n

Ear and Eye Protection, Boots, Gloves, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, Atmospheric Monitor, Traffic Control \n

PHYSICAL DEMANDS\n

The work is heavy and requires the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and\/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and\/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. \n

Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
