Job Description:
This position is located at the Gulf Coast Research and Education Center (GCREC) in Wimauma, Florida (Hillsborough County). The role reports directly to the IFAS FPO Maintenance Supervisor and supports the Center staff with a variety of facility-related tasks.
Responsibilities include performing building and preventative maintenance on office buildings, greenhouses, storage areas, and growth rooms. The role also involves general repairs such as lighting, ceiling tiles, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and flooring.
The employee will assist with outdoor maintenance, including mowing, trimming, weeding, mulching, planting, and irrigation system upkeep. Additional duties include pressure washing, carpentry, painting, equipment inspections, roof inspections, and minor roof repairs. Some tasks may require driving a state vehicle to different work sites.

Expected Salary:$20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Minimum Requirements:
+ A high school diploma (or equivalent) and two (2) to four (4) years of experience in the field or in a related area.
+ Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ At least two (2) years of experience in maintenance.
Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in multiple trades or a high school diploma and four years of relevant experience is strongly preferred. A trade-related journeyman license is also preferred, though not required.
Appropriate vocational or technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the preferred experience.
Knowledge of proper use of carpentry tools
Familiarity with selecting appropriate tools for specific tasks
Skill in performing finished carpentry work
Ability to follow instructions and work independently with limited supervision
