Maintenance Planner (Direct Air Capture - Stratos)

OxyChem is hiring at the landmark STRATOS Direct Air Capture facility in the Permian Basin, seeking those who can apply their technical, managerial, process and safety experience to an important new frontier industry. Direct Air Capture uses proven industrial processes to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) directly from ambient air. This CO2 can then be stored safely and securely underground or used to make things we all need in everyday life. These facilities are important because they help enable companies in hard-to-abate industries to reach their global climate targets.

STRATOS is on track to become the world’s largest Direct Air Capture facility. Currently under construction, it is designed to capture up to 500,00 tons of atmospheric CO2 annually and is expected to be commercially operational in mid-2025. Oxy subsidiary 1PointFive will own the facility, with OxyChem responsible for its operation and maintenance.

As the Maintenance Planner at our Direct Air Capture facility in Ector County, TX you will:

Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our productsSupport and participate in programs, methods, systems, and practices for maintaining a safe and environmentally sound work environmentSupport the safety process systems through participation in planned inspections, job observations, near miss reporting, incident investigation, area audits, and other programs as requiredPlan and set schedules for maintenance work for Oxy, A1 and outside contractorsDetermine logistics completion of projects, define work scope, labor requirements, material equipmentProcure equipment, materials and services per plant specifications and procedures, using SAP to initiate, process, and track purchase requisitions and deliveriesTrack area planning backlog and work orders, ensuring data is current and accurateCreate and maintain Preventative Maintenance schedules (PM’s) for equipment, as neededCreate/maintain Bill of Materials (BOM’s) for all major pieces of equipment in assigned areas of the plant and ensures accuracy of stores inventory requirements by evaluating maintenance needs, specifications and quantitiesBackfill for maintenance supervisors as required for vacation, outages, etc., and provide off hour supportProcure equipment, materials and services, per plant specifications and proceduresMake recommendations on equipment and materials to purchase, as well as recommendations on external resources (i.e., vendors)Coordinate and monitor fieldwork being performed by contractorsand indirectly oversee the work of contract groups and evaluate results Evaluate contractor performance and makes recommendations for contractor assignmentsAssist engineers with plant projects, technical details, specifications and makes recommendations on projects such as timeline, labor requirements, work scope and material Develop and prepare maintenance projects for AFE submittalMake recommendations on projects such as timelines, labor requirements, work scope and materialUse the Management of Change process to develop, document, and implement plant PSM changesTrack area planning backlog and work orders to ensure data is current and accurateProvide on-site, off-hours, call-out support, as needed, to cover maintenance issues, direct personnel, obtain materials or servicesContinually looks for opportunities to improve plant reliability to reduce plant costsSupport the Process Safety and Risk Management goals and objectives andparticipate in site-wide Process Safety and Risk Reduction activities as requestedSupport and fulfill the requirements of the plant’s ISO Quality SystemComplete any additional responsibilities assigned by Plant Management
