Ready to shape the future of science and global health? ATCC, a pioneer in biomaterials manufacturing, is seeking a Manager, Lab Operations – Microbiology, to effectively manage ATCC’s Microbiology production and Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) departments.   This people manager will oversee a team of 3 direct reports, 6 MSAT and 14 Bioproduction employees.   MSAT works to develop and implement modern processes and technology in support of manufacturing microbiology products (Bacteriology, Protistology, Mycology, and Molecular biology).   The manager is also responsible for project management and technical oversight of MSAT activities.  This role requires prior leadership and manufacturing experience.  Preferred experience includes transferring microbiology products from R&D into manufacturing.

Responsibilities Manufacturing Operations:  Support the production operations in a manufacturing environment with oversight of Microbiology Production including Bacteriology, Protistology, Mycology, and Molecular biology.Personnel Management: Develop personnel with the right skillset and commitment to meet quality system requirements, provide a positive, engaged work culture while maintaining accountability to meet goals, budgets, milestones, and other metrics. Process Improvement: Provide manufacturing scale up and efficiencies to production process. Resource Utilization: Effective management of materials, equipment, and staff to produce quality products. Quality and Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with manufacturing and documentation guidelines and collaborating effectively in technology transfer while maintaining quality, regulatory, and ISO compliance in all aspects of production work.Document Management: Strong skills in preparing and reviewing documentation, including reports, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and departmental policies and protocols as needed.Problem-Solving and Root Cause Analysis: Proficiency in leading root cause analysis and investigations of non-conformances, implementing corrective actions, and overseeing defect resolution and related documentation and records maintenance. Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree and 7 or more years of relevant experience, including 2 or more years of supervisory experience or equivalent experience.Technical Microbiology skills including microbial cultivation, preferrably of a broad range of organisms, aseptic techniques, and identification and sensitivity testing.Instrumentation experience including PCR, incubators, microscopes, and bacterial enumeration.Experience with bioreactors, anaerobe chambers and/or preservation techniques is a plus.Prior experience in a biomaterials manufacturing or production environment highly preferred.
