MITRE’s Finance organization is seeking a Manager, Program Finance to lead the Program Finance team.  As a Manager, Program Finance you will be responsible for being a day-to day manager in the Program Finance support function which provides financial support to Department Managers and Project leaders.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Program Finance support function is responsible for providing centralized, full end to end lifecycle financial support across various project leaders and department heads including:

Collaboration with other corporate functions and support of specialized project leader and department head services including budget creation & pricing, risk memos, contract & funding management, financial execution management and pipeline management.

Centralized training and subject matter expert SME support for Financial Reporting tools including Costpoint, Cognos, Tableau, and other custom financial tools, including navigation support and ad-hoc training

Proactive monitoring of project execution financial performance against established goals and KPIs (budgets, funding, risk) and monitoring alerts, escalations, and risks etc.

Prepare and deliver necessary financial analytics to assist Business Partners, Project Leadership and Department Managers in decision making.

Collaborating with finance leadership to connect project/department specific performance with overall organization goals

This individual will be responsible for direct talent development to support the capability needs of the Program Finance organization. The role will be responsible for managing relationships across finance and the line business organization to ensure ‘customer’ satisfaction with the services being delivered and identify opportunities for improvement.

The role will be located in either our McLean, Virginia office or our Bedford, Massachusetts office.

This position is accountable to:

The Senior Program Finance Manager to effectively implement and manage established goals

Line business leadership to provide accurate, timely, and strategic business decision support - quality analyses including, insights, options, and recommendations

Other Corporate/Shared Service teams (i.e. Contracts, Accounting, FP&A) to ensure cross-organization collaboration and integrated business operations execution

Essential Job Functions:

A successful candidate requires a strong business and financial acumen, government contracting at large, as well as good knowledge of CAS/FAR.  In addition to the activities mentioned above, the role will be responsible for:

Responsible for direct supervision of Program Finance Staff

Providing leadership and career development to Program Finance Team

Ensuring timely and quality delivery of services across staff members

Being collaborative partner within the Program Finance, Sector Finance, and Greater Finance organization.

Competencies

Ability to drive and support operational improvements in the day-to-day execution and management of the Program Finance function

Ability to understand the implications of decisions at a project level and the connection to the business unit or enterprise overall including impact to metrics

Ability to help resolve inconsistencies between the assumptions, beliefs, and processes to increase the likelihood of achieving business unit objectives

Ability to become a SME on financial reporting tools to provide training and consolidated reporting

Key Accountabilities:

Day‐to‐day interface with sponsors or internal customers to develop trusted working relationships

High technical quality of products or programs

Ensures delivery of regular, constructive feedback and developmental support to Project Leaders or to staff

People have clear expectations and goals that contribute to important sponsor or enterprise strategic outcomes as well as project level outcomes

Minimum Qualifications:

10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

2 years of supervisory/management experience leading teams delivering multiple high visibility initiatives simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced or Graduate degree in Finance or related field preferred

Intermediate working knowledge of CAS/FAR within government contracting environment preferred
