Manager Internal Audit - Controls

Internal Audit at Medline provides independent, objective assurance and consulting services to management in order to add and protect organizational value. Internal Audit follows a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, controls, and governance in support of the overall organization’s objective to make healthcare run better.

An Internal Audit Controls Manager works in coordination with company management to primarily support the evaluation of the internal control environment. The manager plays a pivotal role in fostering a collaborative and dynamic team environment and developing talent within IA and broader Finance. In addition, the Manager, along with IA Leadership, builds strong relationships with business partners, drives advancements in our controls maturity, and finds innovative ways to identify and assess risks to our business.

Major Responsibilities

Manage, guide, and develop direct reports and team members in their execution of Internal Audit responsibilities to strengthen leadership capabilities and audit proficiencyOversee the development of a testing program capable of evaluating the design and effectiveness of key management controls including process walkthroughs, identification of key controls, execution of the testing, tracking issues that require remediation, and updating relevant stakeholders Partner with Global Controllership and process owners, IT and business, to improve the overall effectiveness of the organization’s control environment through risk identification and communication of common themes drawn from internal audit activitiesProject manage resources, including external, internal, onshore and offshore, in order to complete all required control testing Coordinate with Global Controllership to assist in the ongoing education of control owners, demonstrate the importance of a mature control environment, and share key elements of effective and efficient control design Provide inputs to the quarterly Audit Committee reporting packageStay current on updated company policy requirements, business risks, external regulatory environment, and relevant enforcement actionsFoster an open, honest, and inclusive team culture where we capitalize on diversity of thought to drive better audit resultsClearly communicates risks and opportunities to process owners to support compliance with company and regulatory expectationsParticipate in ad-hoc projects and engagements, such as control readiness assessments, as requested by the Audit Committee, Internal Audit Management, and stakeholders

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related fieldAt least 5 years of experience in internal or external audit or controllership working with large, public, multinational, matrixed organizationsExposure to Sarbanes Oxley 404 requirementsExpertise in establishing broadscale control testing plans and approachesDemonstrated ability to guide others in executing walkthroughs and control testingTrack record of collaborating with business leaders, positioning internal audit as a strategic partner, and experience identifying and mitigating risksExcellent written and verbal communication skills; with success sharing control issues, risks, and insights with senior leadersDeep knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting and IT general controls as well as the processes supported by these control frameworksStrong organization and project management skillsAbility to build consensus amongst multiple stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to prioritize across multiple work streams while leading projects and teamsWillingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time for business purposes; domestically and internationallyAbility to manage through ambiguityDesire and capability to manage and motivate teams and individual direct reportsWorking knowledge of US GAAP
