Position Summary:

The Manager of IT Imaging Systems is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the hospital's imaging-related IT systems, with a strong focus on managing and enhancing the imaging service to improve operational efficiency, clinical outcomes, and patient care. This role ensures the stability, performance, and alignment of imaging systems with clinical and operational needs. The Manager will lead a team of system analysts and PACS administrators, overseeing the hospital’s PACS system (Fuji Synapse), Epic Radiant workflows, integrations across various imaging modalities, and over 20 specialty-specific software solutions used in departments such as oncology, cardiology, gastroenterology, urology, orthopedics, and more. Responsibilities also include managing remote radiology reading, dictation systems, image exchange programs, and third-party service integrations.

The Manager will proactively identify opportunities to optimize imaging service workflows, implement innovative technologies, including AI tools, and ensure network architecture supports business continuity, disaster recovery, and high-availability requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the hospital’s imaging service, including PACS systems, Epic Radiant workflows, and specialty-specific software, such as Epic Mammography.Lead efforts to enhance imaging service delivery by identifying process improvements, streamlining workflows, and integrating cutting-edge technologies to support clinical and operational goals.Manage the integration of imaging modalities and devices, ensuring compatibility, optimal performance, and seamless operation within the IT infrastructure.Ensure the stability, security, and performance of the imaging ecosystem, including modality integrations, dictation systems, and remote radiology reading solutions.Oversee the implementation and ongoing support of imaging solutions, including regular upgrades to maintain up-to-date functionality and performance.Collaborate with radiology and clinical department leads to understand imaging service needs, translate them into technology solutions, and drive service improvements.Partner with network infrastructure teams to ensure network architecture supports high-volume imaging data, scalability, security, and availability.Develop and manage disaster recovery and business continuity plans for imaging systems, ensuring minimal disruption during system failures or emergencies.Regularly review and test backup and recovery procedures for imaging systems.Stay current with emerging imaging technologies and AI trends, evaluating their potential to enhance imaging service efficiency and diagnostic accuracy.Work with radiology leadership to assess and implement AI tools and advanced imaging technologies to improve diagnostic workflows and patient outcomes.Partner with external vendors and third-party service providers to ensure smooth integration and operation of imaging-related tools and services.Collaborate with IT teams to align imaging systems with broader IT infrastructure goals, including security, interoperability, and scalability.Report regularly to senior leadership on imaging service performance, key metrics, improvement initiatives, and potential risks or issues.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Healthcare IT, Computer Science, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.

Experience:

7+ years of experience in IT healthcare systems, with a strong background in imaging technologies and radiology workflows.Proven experience managing and supporting PACS systems, radiology information systems (RIS), and specialty-specific software.In-depth familiarity with Epic Radiant and its integration with clinical systems and workflows.Strong understanding of imaging modalities, including MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound, and other diagnostic imaging tools.Experience managing network infrastructure and designing disaster recovery plans for imaging systems.Experience with AI technologies and their integration into imaging workflows.Demonstrated success in managing imaging services and driving process improvements in a healthcare setting.

Skills & Knowledge:

Expertise in imaging system management, including PACS, RIS, and Epic Radiant.Strong knowledge of network architecture and design, focusing on high availability, security, and business continuity for imaging systems.Familiarity with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, and data security best practices.Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects, including vendor management and third-party system integration.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex IT and imaging issues.Strategic mindset with a focus on identifying and implementing imaging service improvements.

Preferred:

Certification in PACS, radiology systems, or healthcare IT (e.g., Certified PACS Administrator, RHIA, or similar).Familiarity with AI tools used in imaging and healthcare.Previous experience working in a hospital or healthcare system environment.
