S&B is actively searching for an experienced Manager of Communications and Events to join our team in Houston, TX.  The position will be based at our corporate headquarters in the energy corridor.  The Manager of Communications and Events is responsible for helping advance S&B's communications strategy to both external and internal audiences. Primary responsibilities include developing and executing communications plans for events and special projects that enhance the company positioning and brand; developing and executing communications plans for S&B’s internal and external audiences; and partnering with and supporting the overall communications needs of the company.  Joining our team will provide you with a challenging and rewarding environment where you can showcase your skills and contribute to the success of our projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES SUMMARY 

Work directly with the Director of Marketing and Communications to develop strategic communications plans to support S&B to strengthen the company’s overall communications.Ensure that aspects of all of S & B events are executed and fulfilled to include:
o Develop and monitor event expense budget.
o Create and track critical event time lines with staff assignments.
o Chair relevant staff meetings leading up to events.
o Negotiate and secure vendor and venue contracts.
o Work with communications and external affairs team to determine décor and design themes.
o Direct staff assignments for event operations.
o Provide onsite event operations management and troubleshooting during events, as needed.
o Coordinate and track after action reports for use in planning and implementation of future events.
o Participate in strategic planning for key events efforts.Manage messaging/branding projects, set strategy for communicating company events, and coordinate public event outreach (including print, email, web, social media, advertising, and media listings).Support S&B’s internal communications strategy to provide information to company owners, leadership and staff.Assist the Director in developing social media content for the company’s platforms for events as well as programs for both internal and external audiences.Collaborate with other departments to support communications and event planning needs.Research best practices and trends and develop, track, and disseminate analytics/reporting for communications initiatives, including but not limited to, attendance at company events, social media engagement, company e-newsletters, etc.Develop print collateral for event materials in collaboration with marketing design and print production teams.Provide communications expertise and serve as department lead for large community events (YPO, company meetings, trade shows, etc.).Collaborate with marketing department on web functionality and appearance.Other duties as assigned

Strong written, oral, and creative communication skills.Excellent organizational, project management, and teamwork skills.Ability to coordinate and collaborate in multi-functional teams, across divisions.Demonstrated commitment to continuously improving methods, approaches, and departmental contributions as well as ability to see the big picture and provide useful advice/input.Demonstrated track record in online and social media strategy and savviness with respective platforms Client management and branding experience.Currency with latest trends for marketing/ communications best practices.Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multitask effectively as well as adjust to change as needed.

LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS


Excellent communication skills are essential for this position. In addition to the qualifications already identified, the ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical bulletins and government regulations is a plus for this role. The ability to write reports and business correspondence is also a requirement as is the ability to effectively deliver oral presentations and to respond to questions from groups of managers, engineers, clients and suppliers. Job success often hinges upon interpersonal communication and relationship development skills, and job tasks require frequent interchange and successful completion depends in large part upon effective interaction and communication with others.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

Position requires the ability to calculate figures and work with fractions and percentages.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

Position requires the ability to hear normal conversation, see near objects and speak clearly. Occasionally may participate in a field trip to a job site which requires the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance. Lifting up to 25 pounds unassisted may be required.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Normally will work in an office environment, but occasionally may visit a construction site in an operating plant with proximity to operating machinery and exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, fumes, and airborne particles.
