Job Summary/Description:

The Managing Editor is a critical member of the news leadership team, responsible for fact-checking and copy-editing reporter scripts for broadcast and digital platforms, as well as assisting with the generation of news content across all platforms. The Managing Editor is focused on accuracy, ethical reporting, adherance to deadlines and the professional development of all reporters/writers on staff. The top candidate for this role is an experienced broadcast journalist and proven newsroom leader who is comfortable and effective at driving daily newsroom content with a constant commitment to excellence. The shift of the Managing Editor is M-F 1:30p-10:30p.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

* Responsible for fact-checking and copy-editing broadcast and digital copy
* Enforcing reporter deadlines for digital and broadcast
* Generating story ideas for coverage
* Reviewing video and written content for adherence to journalistic standards
* Participates in daily editorial and planning Meetings
* Mentors reporters to encourage journalistic growth and professional development

Qualifications/Requirements:

* 10+ years of broadcast journalism experience (previous Anchoring/Reporting is a plus)
* Bachelor's degree in Journalism or Communications (or equivalent)
* Excellent writing skills and knowledge of AP Stylebook
* Self-driven with a commitment to excellence and the ability to excel on an award-winning team
* Clear understanding and adherence to journalistic ethics
* Must be willing to work on weekends, holidays, and alternate schedules for breaking news or
PTO cover, as needed
