Manufacturing Engineering Associate
Job Summary: Understands importance and rigidly adheres to SWE Quality Standard Operating Procedures. Acts independently to ensure adherence to processes is considered and maintained in all functions. Works through COO to gain training as needed to ensure compliance to processes Essential Functions*: 1. Accept the responsibility of a) knowing b) following c) improving : • all design requirements for each product • all assembly documentation • required processes, SOP, WI - LEAN Six Sigma / 6S 2. Become the knowledge and manufacturing expert for all product lines. This will include: • Resolving technical issues • Problem solving • Improving Assembly instructions as requested by Production for clarity, repeatability, reliability etc. • Backup and eventually replace Technical Engineering Associate trouble shooting automation and python scripts used for testing with troubleshooting Work with Design Engineer as both needed and assigned to gain knowledge • Work with Engineering to review and learn controlling Documentation 3. The review and approval of all production documentation based on accuracy to design requirements, ease of manufacturing and clarity to ensure quality, reliability and repeatability is a critical requirement of this roll. 4. Works with Production staff real time working on improvements and Lean implementations • Answer technical questions • Standardize workflow • Standardize and improve tools, fixtures and equipment used at each station 5. Owns initial set up of new products as well as ongoing improvements • Belt Map • All Equipment • All test fixtures • All programming • All tooling Continues by working with COO and Production Supervisor during all Pilot stages of the product. Once the product is released to production, the role becomes a partnership with Production. 6. May create documentation: • 3D CAD drawings using Solidworks • Assembly Instructions using Corel Draw or similar 7. May create automation in production as warranted, e.g. writing testing scripts using Python 8. Prototype contributions: • Review and participate in the approval for all prototype/engineering meetings • Read and understand customer requirements • Participate in all prototype product builds with an eye for improved process flow, fixtures, efficiencies to be realized later in product life. 9. Secondary Responsibilities assigned by and worked through peers / COO as required, such as: • Creates and maintains custom reports defined by COO on an ad hoc basis. • May perform machine shop duties as needed to support company functions. • Will provide backup as needed for CAD, Doc Control, Quote Coordinator Education / Training / Skills / Experience: QUALIFICATIONS to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE • Associates Degree in a Technical discipline is a plus • Manufacturing experience and/or education is required • 3 years related work experience • Able to create programming code in Python coding or willing to learn • Electrical knowledge and background strongly preferred ATTENDANCE: • Working on site is required • Work hours assigned (6:45am-4pm) may have some flexibility as needed • There will be some overtime required in the support of Production as required. COMPUTER AND EQUIPMENT SKILLS Must be proficient with Microsoft Operating Systems and Applications. Familiarity with common laboratory equipment used in the design and development of electrical and electronic assemblies LANGUAGE SKILLS Proficient in English, speaking and writing.
