Key Responsibilities:Material Controllers are responsible for providing logistical parts support for grounded aircraft throughout the United System. The Material Controller supports 24/7 Logistical Operations to ensure timely processing of AOG material and tooling requests.Coordinate the logistics effort in support of AOG A/C and Placard/MEL/DF/CF recovery activities and Loans, Borrows and Accommodation SalesWork closely with the Maintenance Control Supervisor to identify AOG parts requirements and determines the best method of obtaining parts utilizing company inventoriesCoordinates with Engineering, Internal/External Shops, Inventory Planning and Boeing and Airbus Technical Support to determine correct part (s) needed for maintenance requirementsPurchase aircraft parts from OEM's (Original Equipment Manufacturers), Boeing/Airbus, other airlines and aircraft parts brokers at the best overall cost to the company to support unplanned eventsInitiates purchase orders and ensures receipt, payment and finalizationDevelop metrics to measure and report departmental activity and service levels Support GeM MissionsCoordinates worldwide engine movement and trackingProvide AOG Tooling movement and trackingBorrowing of aircraft parts from other airlinesLoan and accommodation sales of company assets to other airlinesAir charter logistics activities to support OOS aircraft, materials/mechanicsResponsible for providing a safe and enjoyable working environment through timely and effective communication, with emphasis on Dignity and RespectSchedules borrowed part removals within first 24 hours of borrow inception, and works closely with the line stations to ensure manpower availabilityCoordinates with Engineering, Inventory Planning and Boeing/Airbus Technical Support to determine correct part (s) needed for borrow removal and determines best method of obtaining partsInitializes and deletes serial numbers in the SCEPTRE data base (IMS) as necessary (Special access required from Q.C.)Works closely with the Repair and Modification Group / Internal Repair Shops to expedite parts required to effect the removal of costly borrowed partsPerforms all the duties of the AOG job function as requiredDirects the coordination of engine transportation and critical parts via United, other airlines or vendorsDevelops and maintains strong airline and supplier relationshipsMaximize Loan revenue generation for United, while ensuring UAL’s Service Level targets are maintained throughout the Loans processDetermines the fastest and most economical means of transportationCoordinates complicated off-line parts transfers between other airlines, suppliers and courier service Communicates with the owners and representatives of charter aircraft services to arrange charter flights, negotiates cost of chartersIdentifies packaging requirements and determines appropriate aircraft type needed to handleSet up part numbers in SCEPTRE database in off hoursUse and understand various Corporate and Government regulated manuals. These include the General Maintenance Manual, the Illustrated Parts Catalog (I.P.C.), the IATA Dangerous Goods Manual, various Service Bulletins, and different Engineering Change Request Authorizations (E.C.R.A.)Develop and maintain individual Go Forward Goal performanceConduct self-audits, ensuring compliance with documented policies and proceduresQualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):Minimum 5 years job experience in airline, logistics or related fieldAssociate/Technical or Equivalent Work Experience may substituteKnowledgeable in Logistics Control and Airline OperationsStrong Analytical and Communication Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorshipSuccessful completion of interview required to meet job qualificationReliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the positionWhat will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):Associate/Technical or Equivalent Work Experience may substituteKnowledgeable in Logistics Control and Airline OperationsThe base pay range for this role is $64,885.00 to $88,440.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
