Material Coordinator

General Summary

Coordinates and expedites the flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors’ priorities.

Essential Duties

Reviews production schedules and confers with department supervisors to determine material required or overdue and locate material Maintain working familiarity with hazardous material documentation (SDS) Creates purchase orders in proprietary computer system Maintains vendor records in accordance with Company policy Matches delivery and billing records to purchase orders Requisitions material and establishes delivery sequences to departments according to job order priorities and anticipated availability of material Arranges for transfer of materials to meet production schedules Arranges with department supervisors for repair and assembly of material and its transportation to various departments Examines material delivered to production departments to verify material meets specifications Computes amount of material needed for specific job orders, applying knowledge of product and manufacturing processes as needed Compiles reports of quantity and type of material on hand as needed Transports material from one department to another, using hand truck or industrial truck as needed Compiles perpetual production records in order to locate material in process of production, using manual or computerized system as needed Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree preferred Ability to research parts independently Familiarity with basics of building maintenance Good communication skills necessary Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Software Strong attention to detail Must have excellent organizational skills Must be able to read and write English

Work Environment

Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions. Physical demands include intermittent sitting, standing, and walking, and occasional bending reaching and lifting. Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
