Job Description:
A material handler is responsible for storing, moving and handling hazardous or non-hazardous materials. Working as a material handler does not require formal education but does entail extensive on-the-job training. In addition, forklift training may be required as well as certification from a certified Forklift Trainer.
Duties and responsibilities
A materials handler has a very structured work environment to minimize safety risks. Each job is planned in detail and safety issues are addressed before a job begins.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent1-5 years of experience working in a warehouse setting or in logistics; experience in operating material handling equipment preferredCertification to ride forklift truck preferredMust be able to work well in a teamAbility to read, write and to follow instructions, and work independently with little guidanceAbility to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend and to lift heavy materialsAbility to operate computers and relevant warehouse management computer softwareWillingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekendsAlliance Ground International is an equal opportunity employer.
