JOB SUMMARY

The Med Lab Scientist 2 performs and monitors a full range of laboratory testing and research. Assumes responsibility for problem resolution, quality control, and required equipment maintenance with minimal supervision.

\n\n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

\n\n\n\tPerforms laboratory tests in compliance with department procedures and all pertinent regulatory requirements.\n\tFollows quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.\n\tPerforms instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.\n\tAccurately reports test results.\n\tMaintains appropriate inventory of supplies.\n\tMaintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.\n\tParticipates in laboratory projects and educational activities.\n\tDemonstrates and educates laboratory methods and technical skills to others.\n\n\n

\n\nEDUCATION - Bachelor's or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification\nEXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience\nCERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - ASCP-BloodBanking Technologist (ASCP-BB), ASCP-Chemistry Technologist (ASCP-C), ASCP-Cytogenetics Technologist (ASCP-CG), ASCP-Cytologist (ASCP-CT), ASCP-Hematology Technologist (ASCP-H), ASCP-Intern'l Hematology Tech (ASCP-IH), ASCP-Microbiology Technologist (ASCP-M), Molecular Biology Technologist (ASCP-MB), ASCP-Blood Banking Specialist (ASCP-SBB), ASCP-Chemistry Specialist (ASCP-SC), ASCP-Hematology Specialist (ASCP-SH), ASCP-Microbiology Specialist (ASCP-SM): Must have one certification from one of these issuing agencies: -- American Board of Histocompatibility (ABHI)\n\n\nAmerican Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)\nAmerican Medical Technologists (AMT)\nAmerican Association of Bioanalysts (AAB)\nGrandfathered HEW Licensee.\n\n
