Responsibilities **Key Responsibilities:** + Develops/Validates new assays and improves current procedures/methods + Responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of the Analyzers. + Has advanced troubleshooting knowledge in all areas. + Update procedures as necessary. + QA/QC + Responsible for maintaining assays and performing calibration verification, linearities, interferences as necessary. + Responsible for inventory. + Technical resource for all staff + Ensure proficiency reports are completed and reported on time. + Performs education and training of staff. + Participation in continuing education/knowledge. + Uses critical thinking to come up with solutions. + Ensures all work is performed timely and accurately. + Teamwork – is approachable and takes the initiative to help out wherever needed + Communication – openly communicates any necessary technical or operational information to appropriate staff in a timely fashion. **Other Responsibilities:** + Sign out clinical results. + Perform the duties of a Medical Technologist II as necessary. + Perform the duties of supervisor of Toxicology as necessary. + Ensure the safety of the laboratory and the techs are met. + Adherence to all University, Division and Department policies. + Professional discretion with confidential patient results. + Adherence to all laboratory safety procedures. **Key Characteristics of Toxicology Technologist:** + Ability to exercise good judgment. + Good attention to details with a minimum error rate + Good communication skills (listening, speaking, writing) + Ability to follow directions. + Ability to be organized and multitask. + Exhibit ICARE behaviors + Ability to work independently. + Flexibility to changes in workflow. + Ability to use good time management (punctual, manages down time). + Ability to learn and use complex analyzers and extraction methods + Willingness to work with others as a team, strong teamwork spirit. + Considerate and helpful. + Has a positive attitude towards work. + Compassionate towards and ability to get along with other staff. + Ability to learn and improve from errors/mistakes. + Ability to retain information/knowledge to be used at a later time as necessary. + Willingness to perform ‘extra’ duties/studies/experiments. + Understanding of basic analytical principles. **Education Requirements:** + BS in Medical Technology. + BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biology with an advanced certificate of completion at a NYS designated program or an equivalent education and experience and six years qualified experience post NY State licensure. + Master’s degree plus three years post NY State licensure. **How To Apply** All applicants must apply online. _EOE Minorities/Females/Protected Veterans/Disabled_ **Pay Range** Pay Range: $36.50 - $47.45 Hourly _The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job.
