Job Description
The Medical Assistant will monitor patient arrival and assist with patient flow, ensuring patients and visitors are greeted promptly and courteously. The role involves escorting patients to exam rooms, monitoring wait times, assisting in exam preparation, and advising physicians when patients are ready. The Medical Assistant will also provide assistance during examinations if required or requested.
ResponsibilitiesObtain and record patients' chief complaints, histories, vital signs, allergies, and specimen collection, including venipuncture, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration, documenting results within the scope of practice.Perform, prep, and assist with clinical and technical services such as EKG and phlebotomy, as assigned.Prepare medical records and take heights, weights, and vital signs.Ensure lab and other reports are on records before each patient's appointment.Provide interpretation services and clerical support for efficient and effective office functioning.Maintain examination rooms and medical areas in a clean and orderly fashion.Stock examination rooms with supplies and verify vendor supplies against packing slips as assigned.Update pertinent patient information, including medical insurance coverage and eligibility in the appropriate EMR system.Retrieve and file medical reports and lab results.Ensure confidentiality of patients' health information following HIPAA rules.Essential SkillsProficiency in obtaining and recording vitals.Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.Knowledge of medical assisting and patient care procedures.Ability to perform scheduling appointments using Epic.Additional Skills & QualificationsMinimum of 2 years of healthcare experience.Work Environment
The role is based in a busy outpatient office handling 50-100 patients a day. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 08:00 am – 05:00 pm. You should be open to working in Suffern as needed, approximately once a week. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
