Opportunity

The Medical Director, Quality and Value will provide clinical leadership for the full spectrum of quality, safety and value initiatives of Mosaic Community Health. This position will work in partnership with the Director, Operations, Director, Nursing, and Director, Value Improvement to lead the execution of strategies to align and demonstrate quality care and value to our patients, community, and payers.

 

Responsibilities

Partners with the Director, Operations, Director, Nursing, and Director, Value Improvement in developing strategy to advance value related aspects of clinical care, including but not limited to, clinical quality outcomes and population health, patient experience, patient access, provider efficiencies, team care, and cost of care. Reviews and synthesizes current and emerging evidence-based literature relevant to Mosaic clinical programs and quality initiatives. Guides the use of evidence-based literature with initiatives. Collaborates with Chief Health Officer (CHO) in establishing clinical focus areas (e.g. standards of care, quality improvement indicators, and patient care protocols) and supports Clinic Medical Directors (CMDs) in implementing and monitoring these. Provides direct patient care at up to 50% FTE, including preventive care, primary diagnosis and treatment in a primary care clinic setting. Examines, diagnoses, and treats acute and chronic medical conditions. Uses current evidence-based guidelines in creating diagnostic and treatment plans; utilizing tools such as “Up to Date” or “Choosing Wisely.” Provides care which reflects health care cost consciousness and addresses social determinants of health.

 

Skills & Knowledge

Understands and has experience with fiscal accountability and budgeting. Knowledge of quality infrastructure, including how to develop and implement decision tools, clinical protocols and guidelines, care management programs, and outcome measurement assessments. Knowledge of information technology, including statistical analysis, clinical epidemiology, and medical informatics; understanding best practices and how to successfully introduce information technology into clinical practice. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build consensus with the ability to engage clinicians and staff. Knowledge of medical coding, both ICD-10 and CPT.
