CVP is seeking a Medical Instrument Technician/Perfusionist to provide onsite support at Malcom Randall Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville, FL.
Responsibilities Operate and maintain heart-lung machines by setting up equipment, calibrating parameters, adjusting settings during procedures, and ensuring effective patient circulation and oxygenation supportMonitor vital patient physiological data including blood gas levels, temperature, pressure gradients, and other critical indicators throughout surgical proceduresCollaborate closely with surgical teams including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to coordinate care and ensure optimal patient outcomesAdminister blood products and medications as directed to manage patient circulation, blood clotting, and other physiological functions during cardiopulmonary bypassDocument all perfusion activities according to hospital protocols and regulatory requirementsMaintain perfusion equipment through regular inspection, testing, and quality control proceduresRespond rapidly to emergent situations by implementing appropriate interventions and communicating effectively with the surgical team Qualifications Certification: Certification as a Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) through the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Licensure: State licensure/registration as required Experience: 1-3 years of clinical perfusion experience preferred Technical Skills:Proficiency with various types of heart-lung machines and perfusion equipmentKnowledge of extracorporeal circulation techniquesUnderstanding of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiologyFamiliarity with blood gas analysis and interpretationSoft Skills:Exceptional attention to detail and ability to remain focused during lengthy proceduresStrong decision-making abilities under pressureExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to stand for extended periods and remain alert during long surgeriesPhysical Requirements: Ability to lift/move equipment up to 50 pounds, manual dexterity, and visual acuityAbout CVP
