Medical Laboratory Scientist Full Time Evenings


Job Summary

Provides clinical laboratory services in the department. Performance of clinical laboratory examinations, proficiency testing, quality control, instrument maintenance, and other functions as required.


 

Essential Functions

Practices clinical laboratory science in the specialty of hematology, coagulation, chemistry, immunohematology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, and clinical microscopy in a skillful manner. This includes the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing.Performs quality control, calibrations, and maintenance and solves problems related to testing systems as needed and documents corrective actions taken.Maintains competency-validated proficiency on all procedures performed.Maintains inventory, work area, and equipment in a manner that keeps the laboratory in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff.Assures compliance with safety, environmental, and infection control policies and procedures.

QualificationsPreferred Bachelor's Degree Clinical Laboratory Science or related fieldRequired Associate's Degree Clinical Laboratory Science or related field6 months of relevant experience Currently enrolled in a CLS internship or certification eligible PreferredCRT-Medical Laboratory Scientist - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology Only applies to those hired on/after 7/1/2022.
