We are seeking a meticulous and organized Medical Records Clerk to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential medical records, scanning documents into the Electronic Health Records system, and handling various administrative tasks related to patient care.
Responsibilities
+ Maintain medical records with order, accuracy, and confidentiality.
+ Scan medical records into the Electronic Health Records system.
+ Process subpoenas, pre-authorizations, diagnostic imaging, and follow-up on referrals.
+ Provide backup support to the Medical Department receptionists and assist with other functions as needed.
+ Participate actively in team-based care.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ High school degree or equivalent required, with a medical administration certification.
+ Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical records department performing similar duties, preferably in a clinical setting.
+ Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English fluently; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
+ Excellent organizational and customer service skills.
+ Ability to follow written and oral instructions and learn new procedures quickly.
+ Ability to stay calm while working quickly and with a high degree of accuracy.
+ Experience handling incoming calls from patients.
+ Knowledge of medical terminology, procedure codes, diagnosis codes, and medical records procedures preferred.
+ Flexibility, initiative, and reliability.
+ Familiarity with medical computer software and data entry.
+ Experience using Microsoft Office software packages (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
+ Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
+ Ability to function independently and as a team member within diverse environments and with a diverse staff composition.
+ Demonstrated ability to perform multiple administrative functions simultaneously in an accurate, organized, and efficient manner.
+ Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
+ Ability to carry out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical, and professional manner and demonstrate good judgment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
+ Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
+ Experience with insurance verification.
Work Environment
The work environment involves working in a clinical setting, using medical computer software and data entry systems. The role requires flexibility, the ability to handle incoming calls from patients, and proficiency in Microsoft Office software packages (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). The dress code is professional attire appropriate for a healthcare setting. The role may require multitasking and adapting to a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
