MENTAL HEALTH COORDINATOR

Job Title: Psychologist

Department: Mental Health Services

Location: Brooklyn, NY and Deer Park, NY (Hybrid Position)

 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Coordinate, supervise and provide mental health services, including testing and psychotherapy, to foster care children, adolescents and families.

REPORTS TO: Director of Mental Health Services

SUPERVISES: Psychologist, Masters-level psychotherapists, interns, coordination psychiatric services.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Assign and coordinate therapy and assessment cases for a staff of about 6 individuals from disciplines of psychiatry, psychology and social work as well as masters’ level externs and interns in social work and mental health counseling fields. Oversee and complete initial screenings.

2. Carry a psychotherapy caseload of 11 children/youth whom are seen at minimum weekly for 30-60 minute sessions.

3. Psychological assessment instrument, such as Wechslers and personality measures, administration, scoring, and report completion.

4. Reports entry into a BEHR, case assignments.

5. Communicate with social service/casework staff, medical, staff, court correspondence as indicated in select cases.

6. Supervision of masters-level clinicians

7. Coordination of special rate assessments and communication with intake department.

8. Participation in incident review meetings and consultations as needed.

9. Reviews and approvals of billed services in BEHR for Medicaid Managed Care

10. Monitoring and approving of professional and clerical staff’s timekeeping

11. Interface with outside agencies, schools, hospitals, clinics as needed

12. Interface with select university programs providing potential trainees

13. Oversight of Brooklyn and Deer Park Mental Health and collaboration with Mental Health Director

14. Alternate in-weekly presence on-site at Brooklyn and Deer Park offices.

15. Other duties which may come up as indicated by program, e.g., consultation with Homefinding

16. Oversight of timely completion of Medical Necessity and Treatment Plans.

 

II. QUALIFICATIONS

Educational and Other skills and requirements: LCSW, Doctorate in Clinical, Counseling, School or Health Psychology with NYS Licensure in Psychology
