Mobile Phlebotomist - Stafford Virginia

Centers Laboratory is actively searching for Phlebotomists to work Full-time for our Laboratory located in Stafford, VA. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of prior experience and excellent interpersonal skills!

Reports to: Phlebotomy Supervisor

Will work in multiple locations

Position Summary:

Phlebotomists are professionals who specialize in drawing blood from patients. Their responsibilities include interviewing and preparing the patient for the blood draw. They are required to follow strict precautionary safety procedures in order to limit the risk of contact with potentially infectious blood and other bodily fluids.

Record keeping and labeling are also major duties of phlebotomist, to ensure that the right tests are performed on the correct blood specimens.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Accurately identify patients using a wristband, documents or through known visual identificationReceive assignments, assemble supplies and equipment required to perform specimen collection according to established standards, policies, and proceduresAccurately identifies priorities such as Stat, timed, or routineDetermine the right venipuncture method based on patient age, health etc.Reassure patients and help them relaxFind veins that are suitable for punctureDraw blood using proper equipment and techniquesKeep all sharps, needles, and equipment out of reach of the patient and properly dispose of these and all medical wasteFollow the proper test tube order of drawUse appropriate personal protective equipmentEnsure optimal quality and quantity of samples for the test and tube requiredLabel test tubes correctly and send or deliver them for testingDoes not attempt to draw any patient more than two times and request help if necessaryAnswer patient questions and provide useful informationKeep accurate patient recordsAdhere to all relevant health and safety standards while workingMonitor the patient for reactions; monitor equipment operationsEducate patient on immediate after careMaintain a clean and sanitary spaceIf trained on specimen storage and centrifugation, use all appropriate proceduresEnsure patient confidentialityAttend all required company meetings and training programs

Requirements:

High school degree or equivalentPhlebotomy Technician certificate preferredWithout certificate must have completed a hospital or major lab training programUnderstanding of standard blood drawing practices and procedures2 years proven experience as a phlebotomistGood interpersonal skills and communicationAble and flexible to work nights, evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shiftsStrict adherence to safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsKnowledge of aseptic and sterilization techniquesValid State issued driver’s license with a good driving recordMust have adequate automobile insuranceMust have access to a vehicle in good driving condition
