Network Operations Technician - Wireless / VPN
**Technical Engineer III** **Buffalo, NY** The Networking Engineering and Design Team delivers and supports all foundational networking technology used across M&T Bank. We deliver innovative, and compelling technology solutions to enhance the internal customer experience that enables our business partners to deliver. **Primary Responsibilities:** + Work within M&T Bank’s ticketing system in support of the overall health of the network. + Accountable for assisting with projects (network configurations as well as network capacity planning) and repairs. + Understand the OSI model to analyze network routing and switching issues. + Fundamental knowledge of BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP routing protocols is essential to day-to-day operations. + Maintaining and deploying Cisco Switching platforms such as Catalyst Switches and routers as well as Meraki Wireless. + Can learn quickly in a dynamic networking environment. + Support M&T employee VPN connections that run on Cisco AnyConnect Clients and ASA VPN appliances. + Knowledge of Arista Datacenter Fabrics and advanced protocols such as VRRP, LACP and QoS. VXLAN experience is a plus. + Have working knowledge of ITIL practices. Schedule out-of-hours maintenance changes to reduce operational risk. + Create and document method of procedures (MoPs) for projects, work orders and request-based tasks. + Provide training to less experienced staff. + Schedule maintenance changes to reduce operational risk. + First point of contact for break fix technicians and complete evening responsibilities as scheduled. + Use scripting and/or tools to help automate processes and make the Data Center infrastructure more efficient, manageable, available, and secure. + Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management. + Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand. + Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. + Complete other related duties as assigned. **Education and Experience Required:** Minimum of 4 years’ higher education and/or work experience CCNA or equivalent certifications in networking technologies Prior experience reading and digesting technical information Detail-oriented Strong written and verbal communication skills Prior experience interpreting and/or discussing terminology or concepts not familiar to many people with others Strong customer focus, including ability to manage customer needs and multiple work priorities Prior project management experience Cisco Command line interface knowledge **Education and Experience Preferred:** Bachelor’s degree in technology-related field At M&T Tech, we’re a team of makers, doers, and builders, working to create the most advanced technology solutions in banking. The pay range for this position is $93,581.10 - $155,968.51 Annual (USD).
