KMVT is the ONLY fully staffed news team in the market committed to covering Southern Idaho with local, regional, state, and national news by way of Morning, Noon, 5p, 6p, 9p and 10p newscasts. KMVT is part of Gray Television. We own and operate three local TV stations: KMVT- CBS, KSVT- FOX 14 and NMVT- Southern Idaho's CW. KMVT is the dominant news source for Southern Idaho.

Job Summary/Description:  

KMVT is looking for the next News Director who will own our brand mission of serving as "Your Hometown Station."
KMVT wants a News Director who will recruit, lead, mentor, and develop the next generation of journalists for broadcast and digital. The successful candidate will be hands-on, have a proven track record for coaching and developing talent, possess solid journalism skills, the desire and ability to own the big news story, and a passion for breaking news and weather across all platforms.

Duties/Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

- Audience development through the creation of trustworthy news, weather, and community content across multiple broadcast and digital platforms
- Principled editorial decision-making and leadership that sets the tone for our newsroom
- Quality control of content across all platforms, including regular reviews with key stakeholders to maintain and elevate standards
- Effective communication of news plans and goals across all departments to ensure success

Qualifications/Requirements:

- At least 3 years of newsroom experience and a BA in Journalism preferred
- Strong management, communication, and people skills required to supervise and interact daily with staff and the community
- Proven leadership ability
- Creativity and passion for local journalism
- Knowledge and understanding of using various digital and social platforms
- Exceptional organizational skills
