Team Overview and Job responsibilities

Prysmian Group is seeking a people-oriented individual to support our Energy Cable business reporting directly to the VP Chief Engineer with position located in Highland Heights, Kentucky. 

In this important role, you will oversee and guide the design engineering team. Responsibilities may include leading the development of new products, managing project timelines and budgets, collaborating with other departments, ensuring designs meet quality and safety standards, and mentoring team members. You will play a strategic role in aligning engineering efforts with company goals and objectives. 

 Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Knowledge of the characteristics and performances of the products and installation requirements and standardsDesign cables constructions and manufacturing routing in detailBe updated about products, technologies, and competitors in the cable marketKnowledge and monitoring of international and regional regulations, standards and customers specificationsManage customers meeting and technical reviewsManage type approvals and customer visits to the laboratories or plantsUse technical background on materials performance and properties to search and propose effective alternativesManage personnel in a hybrid approach: in person and remotely in multiple locations in the USADefine strategic goals for the team in alignment with Company needs and execute roll out plansProvide regular feedback to the team while providing annual reviewsManage development plans for team membersManage annual budget allocated to the teamManage, maintain and support developing in-house cable design tools as necessaryManage and utilize in-house ERP systems (HFA/SAP) to review and maintain material master/BOM/Routing dataBenchmark products and costInteract with Commercial and Manufacturing personnel as needed to communicate properly and develop proper workflowsEvaluate and propose innovative ideas for new products and product enhancementsSupport special projects to improve production efficiencies, continuous improvement, and product and process developmentManage and lead sustainability effortsLead the team to propose and roll out cost reduction initiativesMonitor market trends when supporting commercial bids and tenders

Qualifications:

BS Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred or equivalentVertical knowledge of cable industry10 plus years of experience in manufacturing environmentAbility to communicate efficiently (verbally and in writing) with shop floor associates, peers and upper management in a matrix organizationStrong Analytical and Problem-solving abilitiesStrong knowledge of Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access)Strong ERP (SAP preferred) knowledgeCoach and mentor the teamProject management skillsCustomer centric
