Nurse Simulation Instructor - Per Diem

The Gordon Center is seeking several qualified Nurse Simulation Instructors 1, 2 and 3- Per Diem. The Nurse Simulation Instructor - Per Diem teaches in the GC emergency training programs to an audience of over 15,000 learners per year. The Nurse Simulation Instructor 1 - Per Diem provides didactic instruction and psychomotor skills training and administers cognitive assessments and skills performance evaluations to course learners. The incumbent serves as the course coordinator for on-site courses- managing time, overseeing instructors, and ensuring course goals and objectives are met, promoting positive communications about the Center and its programs within the allied healthcare community, and contributing to the Center’s responsiveness to constituent agency educational needs.

Teaches a minimum of 12-16 courses per term and participates in annual instructor updates and instructor development programs. Assists with the compilation of educational research data.

Provides remedial tutoring of learners with identified deficiencies in performance of course requirements.

Contributes to the development of objective criteria for skills performance evaluation. Participates in the testing and analysis of educational tools utilized in PETD/GC courses.

Maintains current knowledge of the latest evidence for the subject matters being taught.

Acts as liaison with identified users of the GC’s course curricula, providing hands-on implementation.

Serves as a mentor to adjunct and less experienced PET instructors, offering guidance and feedback as appropriate.

Evaluates and contributes to the revision, editing and updating of PET courses, ensuring all materials meet current guidelines and standards established by appropriate agencies.

Assist in training and preparation of standardized patients (actors) incorporated into course instruction.

Contributes to the development or implementation of case-based scenarios that test learner knowledge and skills through simulation and utilization of standardized patients (actors).

Manages off-site courses in Florida, the US, and possibly, internationally.

Sets up and breaks down, puts away equipment, furniture, etc., as required by course.

Assists in equipment and supply inventory maintenance.

Contributes as a member of at least one performance improvement committee.

Participates in GC presentations to a variety of audiences, including community, political and medical.

Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS             

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

Certification in relevant specialty or field

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others.

Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
