Nursing Infection Control Coordinator - Part-time
Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for assuring that the Infection Prevention & Control program meets appropriate Federal, state and local regulations. Effectively communicates to appropriate committees. Provides resources and support to department managers and Medical Staff for the planning, development, and implementation of the functions of Infection Prevention & Control. Responsible for facility-wide education and New Employee Orientation for Infection Control and Employee Health
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – INFECTION CONTROL:
1. Performs
ongoing surveillance for identification of infection control data and
nosocomial identification for all entities of the facility, including the
Critical Access Hospital and Nursing Home. Conducts initial investigation of clusters of infections above the
benchmark.
2. Assures
timely reporting to the Daniels County Health Department of all “reportable”
diseases.
3. Makes
routine and random rounds to all patient care areas and various departments for
the purpose of supervision and observation of infection prevention &
control practices. Documents identified
areas of improvements and corrective actions taken to assure resolution through
department quality improvement program (may include aseptic, isolation and
sanitation technique, liquid and solid waste disposal, cleaning procedures,
ventilation, and air auxiliary change).
4. Knowledgeable
of the appropriateness of cleaning agents being utilized. Consults relative to purchase of all
equipment and supplies relevant for use with sterilization, disinfection, and
decontamination.
5. Establishes
and maintains a centralized system for recording, reporting and evaluating the
Infection Prevention & Control program and activities. Recognizes the importance of organized data.
6. Prepares
complete, accurate and timely reports for Infection Control activities; which
reflect overall trends and analysis. Assures information is reported to the Medical Staff and Antimicrobial
Stewardship Committee (P&T)
7. Assures
Annual review of the Infection Control program. Develops, secures approval of, and administers up-to-date facility-wide
policies and procedures.
8. Responsible
to assist the Staff Development Coordinator in infection control related
training; which shall include New Employee Orientation.
9. Schedules
and assures all annual requirements and/or testing is completed and recorded
appropriately to meet all federal, state and local regulatory agency
requirements for appropriate departments/employees.
10. Works with the Emergency Preparedness Team to ensure a
method of instituting control measures to protect everyone that enters the
facility in the event of an infectious disease threat.
EDUCATION:
Graduated
from an accredited school of nursing/medical technologist. Prefer RN BSN degree. Current Montana RN License. Basic training
program for infection prevention desired. Be willing to obtain/maintain certification
for Certification in Infection Control or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
At least two years full-time or recent clinical experience in a skilled and/or acute care facility. Supervision and/or teaching experience helpful, but not required.
Incentives - $32.28 per hour to start.
