Occupational Therapist, Acute Care, PRN weekdays

*** PRN Occupational Therapist need for weekdays and occasional weekend hours*** Must have experience in an acute care hospital setting! We are looking for someone to complete our team and enjoy the culture of teamwork as we help our patients regain their lives back. This is in an acute care setting, seeing patients on all floors with all different circumstances. Must be patient focused and a team player. 

As an Occupational Therapist – pro re nata (PRN) Weekend, you will select evaluation and treatment methods that are appropriate to the diagnosis, age group and physical/emotional status of patients in addition to formulating appropriate treatment plans. To help achieve our mission, you will adhere to department policies regarding timeframe, form and content of written evaluations, progress notes and discharge summaries. 



Job Responsibilities:

 

Documents evaluation results clearly and completely according to department policy. Completes daily progress notes that reflect patients' responses to treatment, actual performance and an assessment as to status, relevant to the treatment plan, and eventual discharge needs and treatment summaries if needed. Completes discharge notes that include a summary of the course of treatment, progress toward goals, discharge needs, recommendations for follow-up and patient and/or family education. Communicates effectively with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts. Provides educational materials and methods appropriate to patients' level of understanding and motivation. Demonstrates essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment and protocols. Performs re-evaluations according to department guidelines – adjusting the treatment plan as needed. Showcases current knowledge of the application of therapeutic techniques and evaluation methods. Assumes complete responsibility over the course of Occupational Therapy patient management from the time of initial contact to discharge for functional progress, safety and treatment outcomes. May perform additional duties as assigned.



Requirements:


Experience: New graduate occupational therapist (Prefer 1-year of experience)

Education: Education: B.S. in Occupational Therapy- Masters Preferred 

Licensure: Licensure: VA License required

Certification: Certification: BLS through American Heart Association (AHA)

Special Skills: Basic computer knowledge, proficient in English verbal and written skill
